DriverX - பெயரற்றவன்

சில படங்களின் poster பார்த்தவுடன் அந்த படத்தை பார்த்தே ஆக வேண்டும் என்று தோன்றும். DriverX படத்தின் poster அப்படி ஒரு உணர்வை கொடுத்தது. மேலும் Ryan Gosling நடித்த Drive என்கிற படத்தை நியாபகப்படுத்தும் விதமாக தலைப்பு இருந்ததால் உடனே தரவிறக்கம் செய்து பார்த்தேன்.

இது ஒரு Independent அல்லது Crowd Funded movie என்று நினைக்கிறேன். இது action அல்லது heist வகை படமாக இருக்கும் என்று நினைத்தேன். Transporter, Drive, Baby Driver படங்களை போல ஆனால் இது ஒரு Drama.

முதல் காட்சியில் Leonard Moore ஒரு வேலைக்கான நேர்காணலுக்கு செல்கிறார். அது onlineல் பாடல்கள் பதிவிடும், share செய்யும் ஒரு company. அவர்கள் இசை எப்படி சமூக ஊடகத்தை மாற்றி அமைக்கிறது என்று கேள்வி கேட்கிறார்கள்.

Leonard சொந்தமாக வைத்திருந்த Music Record Store ஒன்றை மூடி விட்டு இப்போது இந்த வேலைக்கான நேர்காணலுக்கு வந்திருக்கிறார். அவருக்கு இசை குறித்த அபரிமிதமான ஞானம் உண்டு ஆனால் internet யுகத்திற்கு அவர் தன்னை தயார்ப்படுத்தி இருக்கவில்லை என்பதை உணர்கிறார்.

செலவினங்கள் பற்றி மனைவியுடன் பேசுகிறார். அவரிடம் பிள்ளைகள் ஆணாக பிறந்தால் வேலைக்கு போகாமல் ஜாலியாக வீட்டிலேயே இருக்கலாம் தானே என்று கேட்கிறார்கள். வேறு வேலை தேடியே ஆக வேண்டும் என்கிற நிலையில் வாடகை கார் ஓட்ட முடிவெடுக்கிறார்.

OLA போல DriverX என்கிற வாடகை கார் networkஉடன் தன்னை இணைத்து கொள்கிறார். சொந்தமாக கார் வைத்திருக்கும் யாரும் இதை செய்யலாம். Driver X செயலி இந்த சேவை எப்படி இயங்குகிறது என்று அவருக்கு சொல்கிறது. முதல் நாள் கொஞ்சம் தடுமாறுகிறார். கொஞ்சம் முசுடு என்று கருதக்கூடிய ஆட்களை சந்திக்கிறார். முடிவில் 37 டாலர் மட்டுமே சம்பாரித்து விட்டு வீட்டுக்கு திரும்புகிறார்.

நவீனமான உடையணிந்து கல்வி கற்றவர்கள் போல் இருப்பவர்கள் கீழ்தரமாகவும், கொஞ்சம் முரட்டு ஆசாமி போன்ற தோற்றத்தில் உள்ளவர்கள் தன்மையாகவும் பழக அவருடைய ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் புது அனுபவங்களை அவருக்கு வழங்குகிறது. அதில் இரண்டு பயணிகள் அவருடைய ratings அதிகரிக்க idea கொடுக்கிறார்கள். அவரும் நன்றி தெரிவித்துவிட்டு உடனே அதை அமுல்படுத்துகிறார்.

பெரும்பாலான சிறிய budget, independent படங்கள் வணிக ரீதியாக வெற்றியடையக்கூடிய கதைகளையே களமாக கொண்டிருக்கும். அதில் ஒரு புதுவித முயற்சி இருந்தாலும் வணிக வெற்றி என்பது உறுதி என்று கணித்தே எடுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும். Reservoir Dogs அப்படி எடுக்கப்பட்ட படம் தான். ChristopherNolanனின் Following மிக சிறிய பட்ஜெட்டில் எடுக்கப்பட்ட வெற்றி திரைப்படம் தான். அது தான் அவருக்கு Memento எடுக்க வாய்ப்பை வாங்கி தந்தது.

சமீப வருடங்களில் independent சினிமா பெரும்பாலும் மைய கதாபாத்திரங்களின் sexual orientation குறித்தே பேசுகின்றன. கடந்த வருடம் வெளியான Moonlight அப்படியான ஒரு திரைப்படம் தான். The Edge of Seventeen, Lady Bird, Thelma என்று பல coming of age மற்றும் மைய கதா பாத்திரங்களின் sexual awakening பற்றி பேசும் படங்கள் ஆண்டு தோறும் வந்து கொண்டிருக்கின்றன.

இதில் எந்த வகையிலும் சேராத ஒரு படம் Driver X. இது internet யுகம் வாழ்க்கையை எப்படி மாற்றி அமைத்து இருக்கிறது என்று பேசுகிறது. வழக்கமான hollywood பாணி திரைக்கதை அமைப்பு என்றெல்லாம் ஒன்றுமே கிடையாது. ஒரு organic film ஆக உள்ளது. ஒரு நாவலை வாசிப்பது போன்ற அனுபவத்தை தரும் படம்.

Leonard தம்மை போன்ற middle class ஆட்களுக்கு வேலைக்கு ஆட்கள் தேவை இல்லை என்று அவர் வீட்டு புல்லை வெட்ட வரும் நபர், swimming pool clean செய்ய வரும் நபர்களை வேலையை விட்டு நீக்குகிறார். அந்த வேலையை தானே செய்து பணத்தை மிச்சம் செய்ய போகிறேன் என்று மனைவியிடம் சொல்கிறார். தான் வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் சேர்த்து வைத்த Music Recordகளை Benz காரை பேரீச்சை வாங்க எடைக்கு போட்ட கதையாக சல்லிகாசுக்கு விற்கிறார். Cable TV, Netflix அனைத்திற்குமான சந்தாவை நிறுத்தலாம் என்கிறார்.

21ம் நூற்றாண்டில் வாழ்க்கை மனிதர்களை வெறும் நுகர்வோராக மாற்றி விட்டது. எத்தனை சம்பாரித்தாலும் அது போதுமானதாக இல்லை. வேலை தவிர எதற்கும் நேரம் இல்லை. Leonard வீட்டில் இல்லாத பொருளே இல்லை. அவர் பிள்ளைகள் விளையாட வீடெல்லாம் பொம்மைகள், விளையாட்டு சாமான்கள் இறைந்து கிடக்கின்றன. இரண்டு கார்கள் வைத்திருக்கிறார்கள் ஆனாலும் வறுமையில் இருக்கிறார்கள். இது ஒரு அவல நகைச்சுவை அல்லாமல் வேறு என்ன?!

Leonard காரில் ஏறும் ஒரு வயதான பயணி இந்த silicon valley இளைஞர்கள் ஏதோ பெரிய உலக பிரச்சினையை தீர்த்து விட்டதாக நினைக்கிறார்கள் ஆனால் உண்மை அதுவல்ல. அவர்கள் தீர்த்தது ஒரு பிரச்சினையே அல்ல. Middle class மக்களிடம் இருந்து பணத்தை புடுங்கி பணக்காரர்களிடம் கொடுக்கும் வேலையை தான் அவர்கள் செய்கிறார்கள் என்கிறார்.

ஒரு முறை கார் சிறிய விபத்தில் சிக்க Leonard உதவி கேட்டு Driver X அலுவலகத்துக்கு செல்கிறார். அங்கே அவருக்கு ஒரு science fiction பாணியிலான ஒரு வரவேற்பும் அதிர்ச்சியும் காத்திருக்கிறது. அங்கே அவர் சந்திக்கும் பெண் program செய்யப்பட்ட robot போல பேசுகிறாள்.

மனைவியுடன் சண்டை போடுகிறார், சமாதானம் செய்கிறார், நண்பர்களின் உதவிகளை வேண்டாம் என்கிறார். கௌரவமாக வாழ வேண்டும் என்கிற அவருடைய கொள்கையை எத்தனை நாள் காப்பாற்ற முடியும் என்று தெரியாமல் போராடுகிறார்.

அமெரிக்கா என்றாலே பணக்கார நாடு, வசதியான நாடு, அறிவியல் வளர்ச்சி அடைந்த நாடு என்று பலவிதமான ஊதி பெருக்கப்பட்ட பிம்பங்களை தான் நாம் கேட்டும் கண்டும் கொண்டிருக்கிறோம். ஆனால் DriverX ஒரு  மாற்று கதையை சொல்கிறது. அங்கே internet யுகத்தில் தாங்கள் செய்து வந்த தொழில் இல்லையென்று ஆன பின் அந்த மனிதர்கள் பிழைத்துக்கிடக்க எத்தனை பாடுபட வேண்டியிருக்கிறது என்று காட்டுகிறது.

I wrote this as a rejoinder to those friends who argued with you for your post about Thoothukudi.

But I'm in no mood to argue. So I'm sharing it here.

I'm sure many would share my view here. Only they are too afraid to do so or don't give a heck about anything.

People are picking on the honourable PM of India because he projects himself or advertises himself as if he is the only guy who is working for the welfare of the country.

To start with he named an official website as "mygov.in"

Shouldn't it be Indiangov.in?

He puts himself before everything. The country or the people in it ain't matter to him.

In the past 4 years he came up with many pet schemes. Don't ask for a list. It's too big.

Did he or his ministers worked on to make any of those schemes work?

And If he has no time on his hands to comment on a situation in Tamil Nadu how come he is making trips to all the states facing elections. He has been to every single one of them in the past 4 years to campaign for his party. Not to mention the countries he visited.

Will he say that the Indian government can just do fine without TN contributing for it's Treasury?

As a PM shouldn't he be working for the welfare of the country instead of spending his precious time on campaigning?

And if he is any good then why spend so much time on advertising his party. Read as campaign if you want. Won't the people vote for his party by considering the "great things" he has done for this country in the past 4 years?

I'm drawing parallels here...

What Modi is doing is not at all new to Tamil people. We have seen MGR, Jayalalitha and Karunanidhi. They projected themselves as saviours and gave no space for democracy inside their party and muffled any dissent in the state.

Not long ago Jayalalitha passed away and if you are a thinking individual You will be able to understand what it did to her party and then to the state that elected her.

It is because of the enterprising people, Tamil Nadu find itself on a path of Prosperity. As far as Education and Health sector is concerned I would say that with the kind of money that the state had generated we have achieved only the bare minimum. I'm sure which is much more than Gujarat, or any North Indian state.

And the price that we have paid to achieve this growth is enormous. Environmental wise we have done some irreparable damage to the state. And now people are gaining awareness and seek a quality and healthy life.

It is the people that matters and they inadvertently contribute for the growth of this country.

And politicians projecting themselves as saviours wreak havoc when they go down. Do nothing when they are around and make a mockery of the democratic institutions.

I'm sure this is the case with most of the parties in the country and none of them have second, third line of leaders.

It's like putting all your eggs in one basket and counting chickens before they hatch.

Let's get back to our honourable PM. He is playing Hero. Like Jayalalitha. And Heroes are no good for Democracy and there is no need for heroes in a democracy. We need leaders, statesmen, visionaries.

If you guys think that people are being unfair to Modi I would say he is asking for it. Look at his party people!! Modi is their blue eyed boy. They all quote Modi when they talk. They cannot speak for 2 straight minutes without referring to Modi.

Do You know where it will lead us to?

Look at his party and his party men. Growth and Development don't mean anything to them. That's a vocabulary they use as a facade to cover up their hidden agenda.

They indulge in red herring. They distract people and bull shit on them and make them believe that they are doing everything for their own good and if it's not good enough they have to digest it for the welfare of the country and if they question it they are anti nationals.

How convenient???!!!
